Bodybuilding Contest: Your First Contest

Bodybuilding Contest: Your First Contest

Most likely if you’re reading this you’re thinking about entering your first bodybuilding contest.

The idea thrills you but it also make you a little nervous inside. Getting things done right the first time will ensure you that won’t make any costly mistakes during the competition.

Your first contest may also be the one you remember best so it’s important to get things done right the first time. You’ve technically already done the most difficult part. You’ve worked out hard in the weight room. You’ve done your cardio to strip off every last little bit of fat. You’ve eaten healthy when everyone else around you has eaten like a bunch of pigs. Now it’s time to finish with the cherry on top. It’s time to go into the competition knowing that you’ve been fully prepared. While I can’t full give you everything you need to know in this short article, I would like to share with you 3 tips that will help you out.

The first tip is to make sure you are set financially. Contest Bodybuilding can be a costly activity when you factor in all of the healthy food you have to eat, the gym membership, and supplements. It can be even more expensive if you’re traveling away from home for a competition. This means that you not only have to pay for a way there, but you’ll also be paying for a hotel. Make sure that you have the financial means to go out with a bang. Many bodybuilders don’t think about this until it’s too late. You don’t want to miss out on your first major competition because you don’t have enough money.

The second tip for pre contest bodybuilding is to stay focused and disciplined. Many newer bodybuilders believe that since the competition is just right around the corner they can start to slack off a little. After all, they’ve been doing everything perfect for so long a little slack can’t hurt. This is a very dangerous way of thinking and can cost you big time. If you’re there to compete you need to endure to the end. Every guy there wants it just as bad if not more than you do. This is why it’s important to do that little extra cardio, to lift heavy weights one last time, to eat that piece of salmon instead of a piece of pizza.

The last tip is to remember that you’re competing against yourself. You have no idea who is going to show up to the before it begins. You may be extremely intimidated at first due to the physical appearance of some of the other competitors. Just remember that this may be your first show and that you’ll only continue to improve from there. Going to a contest will give you a lot of takeaways as to what you did well on and where you can improve for the next time. In the end, it’s all about doing your very best. If you continue you to beat yourself over and over again you’ll eventually be at the top.

While this isn’t everything that deals with pre contest bodybuilding and all the entails, it’s a great precursor and starter as to what you need to do to get there. Good luck on your journey and remember to stay focused, work hard, and remain disciplined.
